Hitchcock Walks.

A short documentary put together by my friend Adam Sjoberg. A collaboration of my footage from the trip and his principle cinematography in Maine, this documentary explains a bit more about my recent journey across the US.

Osprey Talon 44.

Osprey Talon 44 on the I-80 East near Winnemucca, NV.

I have been walking everyday for about two months now, but only until recently did I try and contact the company that made my backpack. My bag is an essential tool, and an integral part of this journey. Without the right gear, an all-day/everyday walk could turn into an all-day/everyday struggle.  I have been using an Osprey Exos 46, one of the lightest and best backpacks on the market today. It was reasonably priced and well worth the money.  I told Osprey what I was up to, and to my surprise they were more than willing to help me out.

The hip pockets are smaller on this bag, but they have proven to be more secure.

They sent me the Talon 44 and very handy rain cover. I have been using the Exos for my multi-day excursions, and the Talon has quickly turned into my everyday bag.  There are so many wonderful features that really make my 30-40 mile hikes so much easier. The dual cell phone pockets allow me to carry my walkie-talkie and my cell phone. I was not able to do this with the Exos 46, which was not a huge deal, but sometimes a little convenience makes all the difference. The padding in the back and hips is very supportive and quite breathable. I really enjoy the sleeping bag zipper on the bottom, it allows for quick camp set-up and access to those pesky items that fall to the bottom of your bag. Overall, I have to admit I am quickly becoming an avid Osprey fan. They make a great product, have a wonderful warranty, and have been very supportive.

Thanks to Sam Mix and everyone else at Osprey for the help!

For my Father.

I have finally started on a project that I have been wanting to do for years. Scan in all of my father’s prints, slides, and whatever else I can find. Mike Hitchcock, my father, is my largest influence in photography. His mastery of the darkroom, and attention to detail is something I hope to emulate in my own craft. This is going to be the only online archive of his black & white work.
